Prepare yourselves - Celtics/Knicks Game 1 tips off Saturday at 3pm

One of my favorite Celtics/Knicks moments with a little re-written history
Via the Herald's Steve Bulpett:

Finally the horrific "end of the regular season so we don't really care about the outcome of the games" period of the season is over. The Celtics got their teeth kicked in by the Raptors tonight as KG and Jason Terry sat out, but the results didn't mean a thing. The C's have had the 7th seed clinched for a while, and they've approached the end of the regular season with that in mind. It's been ugly, boring and anti-climatic.

That's all about to change.

Boston is heading directly from Toronto to New York City as they prepare for Games 1 & 2 of their first round match-up with the Knicks. The series tips off on Saturday at 3pm, with the rest of the schedule being released following tonight's late night games.

After several weeks of just going through the motions, the Celts need to go from 0-60 in a hurry as the Knicks closed the season on a ridiculous 16-2 stretch (with one of the losses coming in a game they rested Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Raymond Felton) with two easy wins over the Celtics occurring within the streak.

However the C's did not have Kevin Garnett for either of those games, and it showed. The Knicks pushed the C's around in the paint, doing whatever the hell they wanted to Boston down low. That won't happen this time.

There's also the little matter of the Celtics (and the Bruins/Red Sox) playing for a city that just got their heart ripped out on Monday. A city that wants badly to cheer for their teams, and start to move on from the attacks.

The Garden was always going to be loud for Celtics/Knicks, but now it's going to be on a completely different level.

Bring on Carmelo. Bring on the Knicks. Bring on New York.

This is going to be fun.

P.S. Celtics in 6. Believe.
