Rivers "not a fan" of Josh Smith

There has been much talk about the Celtics potentially acquiring Hawks' forward Josh Smith via trade or the upcoming free agency period this summer. The Atlanta Hawks GM, Danny Ferry, has been actively looking to trade Smith over the past few weeks and Boston or Brooklyn seem to be likely landing zones for Atlanta's big man. ESPN-Boston Columnist Jackie MacMullan shared a conversation she held with Celtics coach Doc Rivers.

During her regular weekly appearance on WEEI's Mut and Merloni show, MacMullan shared details of a conversation with Doc Rivers as a means of casting doubt on the likelihood of a deal that would bring Smith to the Celtics. Before host Mike Mutnansky even finished asking about the rumor, MacMullan scoffed "now way" and elaborated "I remember asking Doc about Josh Smith last year... picture someone rolling their eyes so much that they're in the back of their head. That's how Doc felt about Josh Smith."

Pretty interesting to hear her say this about Doc. Smith has stated that he would love to play with the Celtics numerous times since last years meeting against Boston in the first round. Question is, would he be a good fit with the Celtics? Could it turn out to be all hype, as the Dwight Howard trade has turned out to be for the Lakers? The trade deadline is Thursday, so there isn't much time at all for Danny to think about a potential deal if he does indeed want to trade for Smith. Also, once this season is over Josh Smith will be a free agent and (again) said he would like to come to Boston. Kevin Garnett has pondered retirement at seasons end, and if that does happen to be the case, Smith could come in without the C's needing to give anything away. What are your thoughts? Should Danny make a move on Smith now, later, or just let Brooklyn take him?
