Celtics wanted to draft Austin Rivers

Boston would have given him a better hat.
Doc Rivers made his weekly appearance on WEEI's Dennis and Callahan Show this morning, and to no surprise the main topic of conversation was his son, Austin.  The younger Rivers was chosen by the Hornets with the 10th pick in last year's draft, and was long gone by the time the Celtics had a selection at #21.  But if he had still been available?  Here's what Doc said:

“We would have taken him. Danny [Ainge] wanted him from the beginning, so that would not have been hard for us. After watching him play this year, I don’t think that would have been that hard. I think he’s going to be a really good player, I just think it’s going to take some time to get comfortable and to play at his speed. But he’s a guy, as you saw last night, that can get his shot and get to the basket and that’s something we need so we would have taken him.”

I can't imagine Doc and Danny have any complaints about landing Jared Sullinger with that 21st pick though.
