Robert Parish sells 1981 championship ring

Earlier I posted the 1981 World Champion Celtics Locker Room Celebration video that I found earlier this week. Where did I find it? I was tipped off that Robert Parish was auctioning off his 1981 championship ring and the video was on the auction page. The auction has now ended and the ring has sold for $45,478. The ring came with a letter of authenticity signed by Robert Parish and Boston mainstream media outlets are now confirming the sale (See here and here).

While $45k might seem like chump change to NBA stars today I'm sure to Parish it's worth more. Besides he might have been led to believe that the ring would fetch more in an auction. It is not known whether Parish is hard up for money or just doesn't care too much about the sentimental value of the ring. Maybe he has other valuable items from the '81 season at his home. It's also not known whether he has or plans to auction off his 1984, 1986, and 1997 championship rings.

So what are your thought on the Chief unloading his bling? What about the final value. Would you have thought it would be lower? Higher? Anyone pissed at Parish? Sound off in the comment section.
