My tattoo would become relevant again!
With the Knicks about to acquire Tyson Chandler, Chauncey Billups will no longer be a Knick. Billups wants no part of being claimed off waivers by some rebuilding team. His agent is already searching for possible suitors. How about a reunion in Boston?

How the Celtics could get him:
If Billups clears waivers the Celtics could use their MLE on Billups. Remember Billups would still be getting paid his $14 million contract owed to him by the Knicks, so whatever he can get on top of that is gravy. If a team claims him, they most likely would be doing so with the intent of then trading him. In this case the Celtics would have to offer a young player or draft pick to acquire Billups.

Billups is a heady veteran point guard. You couldn't do any better than him as a backup. He has experience playing with multiple all-stars from his Detroit days. He's a very close friend and former teammate of KG. I've been a huge Rajon Rondo fan dating back to when most C's fans preferred Sebastian "Through the Fire" Telfair. I think the Celtics should be showing him love and not trying to trade him... BUT I don't run the Celtics. Danny Ainge does and he's been trying to trade Rondo for years (Robert Swift, Rodney Stuckey, Tyreke Evans to name three guys he's offered Rondo for in the past). So if Danny is set on trading Rondo, this allows insurance at the starting point guard spot and allows Danny the ability to trade Rondo for a Center, with the obvious #1 target being Dwight Howard. In my honest opinion a Billups, Ray, Pierce, KG, Howard starting 5 would be favorites to win the title (much more than a CP3, Big 3, JO starting 5. If you can't get Howard, Rondo could still fetch another very solid center.

Not sure I can think of any cons, except if Billups is claimed by another team and the asking price in a trade is too hefty. Billups is old and has been getting injured more frequently in recent years, but he keeps himself in great shape.

I love Billups. I hear Carlos Arroyo wants to go to the Knicks, let's dump him in NYC and get Chauncey.

  2. Jay says:

Going to be tough to get him, but would be Perfect.

  3. Billups is old now he should come off the bench at the PG Spot. Plus Delonte West should be back also with Marcus Thornton who average 15points off the bench in Sacramento he can play the 2guard with D.West. Tayshaun Prince should sign also and come off the bench with his old teammate Billups. I still think that Rondo,J.Gree,G.Davis, & 1st round pick should be traded to OKC for Westbrook & Perkins. We will have a chance to beat Miami. D`Andre Jordan should sign with Boston for 5 spot and Perkins can come off the bench.

  4. Send A.Bradley & E.Moore to New York.

Would love Chauncey on the C's

  8. Beantown says:

Why would they do this? They already have Rondo and now they signed Dooling. It doesn't make any sense on any level unless they're actually trading Rondo

Hell no I'd rather have Rondo than billups! He's old! just like half our team meaning retires soon leaving you with what??? Rondo is our building block Dwight should wanna come play with Rondo cause he can distribute the ball better than any other. Plus look at the Rondo to Shaq and how it worked so well. DONT GIVE UP RONDO!! Just try to get Dwight some other way

EXACTLY!!!! Rondo is the best pointgaurd who isn't the primary scorer in the league by far!!!! and with our roster we really need that! but ainge if u trade rondo please trade him to the warriors! please no where else!. definately not the magic!!!!!!!! i would love curry on the celtics and rondo teaming up with ellis and lee and wright in gs (im a huge fan of both teams) and you could probably get Andris Biedrins with him. and he's a solid center. and would be a great backup!

All yous guys are crazy! Rondo is a BUM! He can't shoot for nothing and if he doesn't have Ray Allen hitting 3's he's a below average assist guy. You'll NEVER beat Miami again no matter who yous guys get! As long as you have those OLDIES but GOLDIES on the roster YOU'RE DONE. Rebuild now! Dump the squad start from scratch!! Smh...lolol

Another typical Heat fan...with luck Lebron gets injured and misses the whole season, haslem re-injures himself, chalmers misses games, and Bosh gets hurt and misses 1/3 the season...then you'll get swept in the first round and start to appreciate what Boston has had to play through the last several seasons, and how impressive it is that they got as far as they did with the skeleton staff they constantly played with.

Miami were one of the only contending teams who were young AND didn't face major injuries last year, yet still got owned by Dallas team as old as Boston.

P.s. bravo for beating a Celtics team who's best player was playing with one arm, who had a legitimate (and not fully recovered) centre for only 20 minutes a game, and a team that had been together for two months. If Rondo and shaw were healthy, Miami would have been squished like a potato - for proof check the rego season prior to the trade + Shaq injury.
