Quantcast

"I used to drink Hennessy ... at halftime. I kept it in my locker. I'd just walk to the liquor store and get it"...... "When I was a 19-year-old father, whew. I was a single pimp! I was wild," "A lot of marijuana and alcohol -- even before that age. ... I still party and I have fun, but not like I used to. I used to drink every night and party every night."
Another classic Ron Artest quote from an interview with Sporting News.  As a Celtics fan it makes me happy that the hated Lakers have this nutcase on their team.  Before the season I voiced my opinion on the Artest signing with L.A. I said it was only a matter of time before this guy does something stupid.

Although this interview only talks about his past endeavors, I think it shows just how much of a loose cannon this guy really is.  Sure, he is still a very good player and can be a lock down defender at times, but I am glad he is not on my team.  Things are going okay for the Lakers for the time being, but you can bank on Artest blowing a game or two in the playoffs, at least I hope so. These might be off the court incidents, but these behaviors usually have a trickle-down effect.

Say what you want about Rasheed's technical's, but at least he is somewhat sane.  I don't know if the NBA has ever seen a more mentally unstable player than Artest. I will say it is entertaining to see what he will say and do next, but you don't necessarily want players like that on your team.  The Lakers can keep this nut ball and his stash of Hennessy.

In the game I played against him I was 16, so I guess he was probably 15. He played that game with a cast on his wrist. Before the game my coach questioned it, saying he shouldn't be allowed to play with it on. Of course know one at the time what a nut job he'd turn out to be. Fortunately he didn't use the cast to hit anyone...

I wonder if he was an alcoholic at that age?

  3. That is cool you played against him. He could've done a lot of damage with that cast. He's just an idiot for even saying things like that, though it is pretty funny.
