Report: Ray Allen's alleged catfisher claims relationship; Allen denies
Allen's alleged catfisher denies the situation as presented by the former Celtic, rejecting the claim he pretended to be various women in the incident in question, and instead has been in a long-term relationship with Allen, claiming they will provide evidence based on nude photos and videos Allen allegedly sent during their relationship.
To long-time fans of Allen and/or the Celts, Ray being involved in extra-marital hanky-panky isn't that much of a surprise - he was infamously implicated in just that after sending a salacious message as a tweet instead of a DM not too long ago - but what sets this accusation apart from earlier ones is that his accuser is a man. Bryant Coleman, the man in question, recently spoke with TMZ Sports about his claims:
"[Ray's] account of our relationship is false ... Ray knows how I look, he knows how my voice sounds, he knows how I think, and most importantly, he knows my heart ... However, because of confidentially considerations, I am not in a position to provide a more detailed response to Mr. Allen's false and salacious claims. I will rely on the courts to protect me against Mr. Allen's violent threats and false accusations."
No elaboration on what "violent threats" constituted in Coleman's account, but those claims did not go unanswered. Allen's legal representation responded (again, per TMZ Sports):
"Mr. Coleman’s statement would be funny if it wasn’t so crazy ... There has never been and never will be a relationship or friendship between Ray Allen and Mr. Coleman. They have never met and never have spoken ... Ray obviously hasn’t threatened anyone. Any statement or inference otherwise is a complete fabrication. Ray wants nothing to do with Mr. Coleman, who obviously has some serious issues with understanding the difference between fact and fantasy."
At this stage of the game, it's wise to avoid rushing to judgment, as information is only just starting to emerge, but in the meantime, we can respect Allen's family's privacy as best we are able regardless of whatever our personal feelings are towards the player, and still hold public figures accountable for whatever was going on once the picture becomes clearer. We'll likely have more information soon, but for now, please be kind - there's enough crap in the world to deal with of late, and this doesn't look like it's going to end well, no matter how it goes down.
