Boston renounces its rights to Marcus Thornton

The Boston Celtics have renounced their rights to Marcus Thornton.

No, not the Marcus Thornton who played for the club in the 2014-15 season, the one the Celtics drafted 45th in 2015. The fact that Marcus Thornton the younger (the one we did not draft being the elder) shared the same name as a player who was on the same team he was drafted by the season prior is very likely the most remarkable basketball information worth sharing should tell you everything you need to know about the situation. Thornton-the-younger was stashed overseas due to the Celtics' abundance of assets, wanted a shot with another team and never got close to good enough for Boston to cash in on his rights.

Best of luck to you, sir! You're going to get more than a few of us points in trivia night at the bar some day in the not-so-distant future, and that is probably worth...something.
