Philadelphia 76ers tell Ben Simmons following workout they are picking him #1

The Philadelphia 76ers have informed Ben Simmons that they will select him with the No. 1 pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

The 76ers' promise was first reported by Cleveland.com and confirmed by ESPN.

The team worked Simmons out privately on Tuesday, the first and only workout Simmons has done leading up to the draft. This was after the LSU star met with the team last week in Cleveland, where Simmons had been working out.

Well onto the Lakers at #2. I put the odds of the Lakers taking Brandon Ingram at 95%. This was the right pick by the 76ers. Despite an underwhelming Freshman season, Ben Simmons is the top player in this draft. Also of note is despite rumors that Simmons didn't want to go to Philly, look how quickly he changed his tune when it became evident they were picking him? The same thing would happen with Kris Dunn if the Celtics pick him #3.
