Around the NBA 11/1: Things Celtics fans should know from last night

With the Celtics home preparing for their matchup this afternoon with the San Antonio Spurs, there were 12 NBA teams in action last night. Here are 5 things you should know:

2016 DRAFT PICK WATCH

1. The Brooklyn Nets moved to 0-3 following a 101-91 loss to Memphis. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a part of the Nets organization, or even a fan. You have no incentive to tank because you do not own your draft pick, but you have a roster incapable of winning basketball games, and no assets of any kind to upgrade said roster. They are completely and utterly helpless. The Celtics own the Nets 2016 first-round draft pick.

ATLANTIC DIVISION STANDINGS WATCH

2. The Knicks matched up last night with the Wizards, who were playing on their first back-to-back of the season. New York was able to take advantage of that, as they used a big fourth quarter to get the victory. They are now 2-1.

3. As referenced above, Brooklyn fell to the Grizzlies and are now 0-3.

FORMER CELTIC WATCH

4. Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo matched up for the second time this season in Los Angeles last night. While the Clippers won the game, it was Rondo who stole the stat sheet, as he finished with 21 points (9-17 FG), 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Paul played only 14 minutes and scored 3 points. Not for nothing, but the Clippers have a serious problem with their bench. It appears once again that Doc the GM is not as good as Doc the Coach. The starters accounted for 99 of the team's 114 points. And check out the plus/minus numbers for the bench in what was a five-point victory: Pierce was minus-18, Josh Smith minus-17, Wesley Johnson minus-13, Austin Rivers minus-17, and Jamal Crawford minus-11. Ugly.

5. Jeff Green and Tony Allen both contributed to the Grizzlies win last night over the Nets. Green finished with 13 points (8-10 FT), 5 assists, and 4 rebounds, while Allen had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
