Celtics already 'out of the running' for Greg Monroe? Boston not on LaMarcus Aldridge's list of visits


From the New York Post's Marc Berman:

[Greg] Monroe doesn’t have the defensive zeal of [DeAndre] Jordan, but the low-post talent is still only 25 years old. He will speak with the Knicks on Thursday. Monroe said he would also meet with the Lakers, Blazers, Bucks and Celtics, but a league source said Boston is already out of the running.

Hmm, that's not encouraging.  Neither is this:


It's a tough pill to swallow seeing New York and Toronto on Aldridge's list and not Boston.  Toronto?!  Are you kidding me?

Jimmy Butler at least scheduled a meeting with the Celtics before the Bulls likely enticed him to stick around with a max offer:


Yesterday, The Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach wrote:

So now Boston will begin its push into free agency, which will officially begin at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. Although the Celtics are expected to have exploratory contact with most of the top available options, the team is not encouraged by its chances of landing an elite target this summer.

“We're well-positioned to get any free agent that moves, but a lot won't move,” one team source said. “It's going to be tough.”

The free-agency period hasn't even officially started yet, and those words are already ringing true.

But hey, at least Boston fans can take solace in the fact that Tobias Harris is following several Celtics players on Twitter...
