The Boston Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards 101 to 93 this afternoon at the TD Garden. Paul Pierce returned home once again to face his former team, and boy it’s strange to see him in red, white, and blue instead of green. Rajon Rondo out-dueled his former Big Three teammate and notched a triple-double in the process.

The Green had control of this game all day, heading into the final frame up 18 points. The Wizards coasted through but turned it up in the fourth and Rasual Butler took over. In true 2014 Celtic fashion, a dwindling fourth quarter lead let the Wiz back into the contest becoming a one-possession game down the stretch. Pierce missed a huge wide open three which turned into a Celtic rebound, and Avery Bradley then knocked down the game clinching three himself. The rest was just formalities as the game was essentially over.

As I mentioned earlier Rondo notched a triple-double dropping 13 points, snagging 13 rebounds and dishing 11 assists. A surprise leader off the bench was Marcus Thornton who went 3 of 4 from deep, finishing with 21 points. Jeff Green also played phenomenally scoring 25 points.

The Truth compiled 16 points, while Rasual Butler was the 4th quarter game changer. He scored 22 points in the game but knocked down huge shots in the final frame to get his team in the game. Old friend Kris Humphries out-dueled Sully on the boards, ripping down 14 boards.

The Celtics ride their 3 game winning streak into Washington tomorrow at 7PM to conclude a home-and-home versus Paul Pierce and the Wizards.
