Brook Lopez out against Celtics tonight

Opening night for the Celtics interior defense just got a whole lot easier as Jay King dropped this nugget for us this morning:

Brook Lopez is out against the Celtics tonight, per Lionel Hollins. Plumlee will start.

That’s fantastic news for Sullinger and co. since the 7 foot tall Lopez seriously would have posed matchup problems for the undersized C’s big men. Mason Plumlee will get the start, who is extremely athletic in his own right, but is just an up-and-comer at this point. The 24 year old has his work cut out for him to compliment former Celtic Garnett. Rim protection was one of the key problems for the 2013 Boston Celtics, and if Plumlee has his way with our frontcourt that’s a wary sign of a long season for the Green.
