How did Minnesota pass on the Knicks' offer for Kevin Love?

The Knicks recently attempted to make a trade for Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love, offering forward Amar'e Stoudemire and his enormous expiring contract, second-year guard Tim Hardaway, Jr. and swingman Iman Shumpert, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The Timberwolves are out of their minds.  What are they waiting for?  This trade could make them instant contenders out west.  Amar'e plugs right in at Love's power forward spot.  Just one decade ago Stoudemire averaged 26 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the Suns; those are Love-like numbers right there.

Plus Minnesota gets a pair of potential Hall of Fame shooting guards as well.   Did you watch Tim Hardaway Jr.'s dad play in the early '90s?  I'm sure that "killer crossover" is genetic.  Also the fact that Shumpert's shooting percentage and scoring average have declined each year he's been in the league isn't discouraging at all.  It's probably just because he's gotten hurt every season.

I head Danny Ainge offered the T-Wolves Gerald Wallace and Keith Bogans' non-guaranteed contract for Love, but Minny is still mulling it over.
