Baxter Holmes: Paul Pierce going to the Clippers makes a lot of sense

Celtics beat writer for the Boston Globe, Baxter Holmes and I agree that Paul Pierce playing out the end of his career with the Clippers makes a lot of sense:
The Clippers have a ton of talent and once again have the opportunity to compete in the West. However, one area that could use an upgrade is the small forward position.

Last season, Matt Barnes started for Los Angeles at small forward in about half their games and averaged 10 points a game on 34% from three in just under 28 minutes per in the regular season.

Pierce averaged 13.5 points in almost identical minutes and shot over 37% from distance.

"The Truth" is also an upgrade over Jared Dudley who started in approximately the other half of the regular season games at small forward for LA.
Most importantly, Pierce played several years with Doc and demonstrated on several occasions for the Nets last season that he still has his clutch game intact.

I also feel the Clippers might want to take a look at undrafted point guard Jahii Carson out of Arizona State considering Darren Collison's looming free agency.

Carson would be great in that uptempo offense and is a much better distributor than he's been given credit for.

Also, his size isn't so much of a concern when you have one of the best rim protectors in the game in DeAndre Jordan watching your back.
