98.5 The Sports Hub could carry Celtics games, even though they never talk NBA

Most people tune in to listen to these idiots argue the same point from 2-5.
They should probably just get Sirius.
Other than the great Toucher and Rich show, there isn't a whole lot of NBA talk going on on Boston's number one sports radio station.

The station's apparent lack of interest in the sport apparently won't stop them from carrying the Celtics games themselves though.

BostonGlobe:
Multiple industry sources believe The Sports Hub to be a significant player for the Celtics rights.

Greater Media, which owns five stations in the Boston market, has expressed interest in Celtics broadcasts in the past.

No matter where on the dial the Celtics land, expect to hear the same broadcast team. Play-by-play voice Sean Grande and analyst Cedric Maxwell, a popular tandem that has been together since the 2001-02 season, were hired by the team, rather than the station that broadcasts the games.

This is some interesting news if Sports Hub does end up taking over the Celtics.

Sports Hub is already carrying both the Patriots and Bruins. If they were able to carry three of the four major sports teams in the city, that would be a huge get for them. There will be some conflict with the Bruins and Celtics obviously. However, only 18 games will be affected.

It's also slightly ironic. One of the station's flagship shows, Felger and Mazz, makes a living on making fun of the Celtics and hating on the NBA. The station as a whole was able to gain traction in Boston for embracing hockey fans who were pushed aside at WEEI. However, most of their shows (not Toucher and Rich) have treated NBA fans with the same arrogance that WEEI treated hockey fans.

It's rare to hear talk of the city's most successful franchise on a Sports Hub show unless the team is in the playoffs. Something very unlikely to happen this year.

As long as Grande and Max are still doing the broadcasts though, I probably couldn't care less what channel I have to tune to.
