Brandon Bass hosting annual basketball camp and back-to-school giveaway

When he’s not busy giving away valuable possessions during the regular season with ill-advised decisions, Brandon Bass spends his summers giving away prizes and lessons to the boys and girls in Baton Rouge, LA.

Since 2008, the Brandon Bass Reach Back Foundation has been hosting a series of basketball camps in the area. This year, the camps will take place during August 1-3 at various locations.

The camps will not only focus on teaching kids the fundamentals of basketball but it will also help them gain a better respect for the game. T-shirts and a photo with Bass will be provided to the participants

While space is limited, each camp is free and open to the public.

It’s always nice to see players give back to the areas they grew up in—Bass is a Baton Rouge native. It’s especially nice when these camps come at no cost to the public.

“It’s a blessing to provide these young kids with the opportunity to learn not only basketball skills, but life skills,” Bass told NBC 33’s Matt Boudreaux. “I’ve been surrounded by great people and this is my chance to come back where I was raised and pass on the tools that I have learned along the way.”

Way to go, Bass.
