Kidd and Williams contacted KG on trade

New members of the Brooklyn Nets organization

When the Celtics attempted to trade Kevin Garnett to the Los Angeles Clippers before the trade deadline for DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe, KG refused to waive the No Trade Clause in his contact with Boston. Around the same time of the season Garnett teased the media that he would retire at seasons end, undoubtedly because he wanted to end his NBA career with the Boston Celtics. Fast forward to the 2013 NBA Draft, Kevin Garnett is traded to the Brooklyn Nets along with teammates Paul Pierce and Jason Terry for a mirage of players and future draft picks.

It was up to new Nets head coach Jason Kidd and captain Deron Williams to try and persuade Kevin to waive his NTC and join their team, and they succeeded.

I'm not sure what was said during these talks, but I know it was a very tough decision for Garnett to leave the franchise he loves for a shot at another championship in what may be his final season. Though the Nets are a division rival of the C's we may very well be cheering them on to BEAT THE HEAT in next years postseason, and we have all the more reason to with The Truth and The Big Ticket on their side.
