Afternoon Delight: Stopping Felton

One rather unexpected thorn on the Celtics' side during the ongoing playoffs is Knicks guard Raymond Felton, who has been averaging 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game in the series - averages which are markedly better than his regular season numbers (13.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 5.5 apg and 1.4 spg).  In last Sunday's encounter Felton picked up the slack for the suspended J.R. Smith with a season-best 27 points - torturing the C's with many uncontested drives to the hoop and four big makes from beyond the arc.

Having been unsuccessful in their past attempts to slow Felton down, how should Doc Rivers and the C's proceed?  Here's our suggestion: we call it, "The Twinkie Defense."

While jokes about Felton's eating habits may have been exaggerated, they are not unfounded.  Recently the Knicks had a "movie night" and posted this image on the team's official Twitter account:

Notice how Felton has twice the number of pizza boxes Smith and Shumpert have?  Now he could be holding onto one box for Melo...  but then again he could also have snatched it from him.  Either way the picture is none too flattering for the pudgy point.  :-)       (Credit DH for discovering this tweet)
