Highlights From Jeff Green's Statement Game

Celtics fans, enjoy this utterly dominant performance by Jeff Green.

#8 delivered his best game as a Celtic, compiling 31 points on a scorching hot 11-14 shooting with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and FIVE BLOCKS. Most impressive to me, he did not even dunk the ball, instead showing off the full arsenal by slashing, facilitating, and knocking down shots from long range to bury The Phoenix Suns. The $9 million a year salary is beginning to look like a bargain, particularly when you consider broken down vets like Gerald Wallace making more money and similar players like Rudy Gay set to make $19 mil. Such comparisons aren't as farfetched as they might seem, just look at Gay's horribly inefficient production despite ample minutes, or Luol Deng's analogous PER as the league-leader in minutes played (39).

Though Green needs to close out the season strong to prove his recent play is sustainable, it's quite reasonable to see him as a top-10 Small Forward for years to come. Now regularly breaking the 30-minute mark, he's averaged 17 points (55% FG) with 4 boards, 2 assists, and 2 blocks for the month of February. Despite the bevy of season-ending injuries to key players, Uncle Jeff's vast improvement could help drive the Celtics to another exciting playoff run.
