Rajon Rondo Hosts "King of the Rock" Competition

The Boston Celtics have Monday off and will be in Chicago to take on the Bulls on Tuesday.

Their All-Star point guard has some interesting off-day plans, though. Rajon Rondo is out west on Alcatraz Island, just a short distance from San Fransisco.

Rondo is a well-known partner of Red Bull and now he is hosting a huge event for the energy drink company.

The "King of the Rock" competition is a one-on-one tournament featuring 64 basketball players from around the world. Rondo seems pretty excited to be a part of this event.

The tournament is being broadcast live by CelticsLife's friends over at Bleacher Report. According to the site;

"The finals on Alcatraz follow a straightforward concept, where players go head-to-head in raw outdoor basketball, using a single-elimination tournament bracket. Games last five minutes and are subject to regulation hoops rules and scoring (two and three pointers).
Players have to be tough to make it to The Rock, but also have to play smart—five fouls equals an automatic loss. After each game, the loser walks and the winner faces his next opponent."

The event started at 12:30 and has advanced onward from there. You can still catch some late-round action over at Bleacher Report.

The live stream of this event can be found here.
