Celtics Ink Jason Collins

The Celtics new wide-body Center boxing out
ESPN Local reporter Chris Forsberg has reported that the Celtics have agreed to a contract with 7-foot Center Jason Collins. A very limited offensive player, Collins will add a big body on the Celtics bench. He signed for the veterans minimum and will be used to defend offensively gifted post players in small stretches if needed. If you remember back to the Atlanta series, some thought Collins bothered Kevin Garnett in the post and was able to push him out of his comfort zone. Collins should add a decent defensive big guy and capable body in case of injury. Collins has averaged just 3.8 PPG and 3.9 RPG since entering the league in 2001-2002. After Greg Stiemsma signed with Minnesota earlier today, GM Danny Ainge moved quickly to replace him with a similarly defensive minded backup Center.
