And the NBA is a complete joke.

I know, not the type of stuff you'd expect on an NBA fanblog.  It's tough being a Celtics fan right now, or any team really, because even though we want to support our home-team and we love the Celtics, supporting the C's also means supporting the NBA.  The Celtics stand for basketball excellence, there's a tradition (even legacy) of greatness, spirit, hard work and winning here.  The NBA stands for League-first, owners-second, players-third, fans and everyone else last.  The NBA doesn't give a fuck about you, just keep buying their tickets and jerseys.  Consider this: they put everyone who supports themselves and/or their family off the league on a mandatory 4-month unpaid leave, and most of those people don't make much.  What if your employer did that to you?

NBA cares?  please, if you buy that crap for half a second then I have a bridge you can buy and jump right the fuck off of.  A couple of Smarmy, Sterny photo-ops, throw some chump-change at a charity and it's back on the private jet.  I see you smiling in front of some projects in Ohio and suddenly you aren't a greedy prick?  Not on my watch.  How about making the ticket prices reasonable?  If I want to sit court-side for some meaningless regular season game I'd have to sell an organ, and not one of those throw-away organs like a gall bladder or a kidney, probably one of the better ones, like a pancreas or a lung.  Those sweat-shop hoodies could be made by fucking Gucci and the NBA would still turn a profit with what they charge.  Yea the NBA cares alright, about squeezing every last dime from its patrons and then leaving them high and dry afer they collect.  What do you expect from the mafia's shortest punk-ass?

David Stern is not only a piece of shit, he's also incompetent.  The league shouldn't own teams in the first place, because this shit becomes possible.  If he understood basic macroeconomics, he wouldn't have been pushing the megastars to the megamarkets, he wouldn't have teams in cities that are destined to fail, he wouldn't have been fixing games (not proven, but I believe it's happened more than once).  Sure you make a quick buck when the stars align in Boston and LA for a finals, but suddenly you're a 2+ team league and that will flat-out fail in the long run, guaranteed. This Chris Paul trade cancellation, if it is real, is good news and bad news.  The good news is that Stern's circle of ultra-rich buddies in the NBA is dwindling.  The bad news is that this is the state of the league.  It's an absolute joke.  When your league goes through months of fighting because its run by a bunch of ultragreedy cocksuckers, then the one league-owned team goes and makes a move that is the epitome of the problem, then you are just fucked.  And you just know how it's going to be spun.  Stern didn't know about any of it, and as soon as he found out, he swooped in and did the right thing by cancelling it.  First of all, the only reason I don't have a big problem with the league blocking a trade is because it's blocking its own trade, and how hilarious is that?  It's like a guy trying so hard to give himself a left hook, but he keeps blocking it with his right hand.  Normally, I'd say, "No NBA, you can't block a trade between two teams (even if it was benefiting the enemy), because you don't get to pick who plays where.  You set the rules of the game, you enforce them, then you go back to wishing you were the NFL." Second of all, David Stern had to have known about this.  I don't care, tell me he didn't or he might not have, you're a moron.  Drink the kool-aid but make sure it's laced.

Between this lock-out, the discrepancy in markets, the league-ownership of the NOH's ark (hey, there is a similarity there, they have two of every player that sucks, and Chris Paul at the helm), and the attitude of the NBA towards basketball fans, it's no wonder why loyal Celtics fans like TB and other fans, Celtics or otherwise, are fed up.  It's not the team we can no longer stand, it's the league.

Bonus little tidbit from David Stern's wikipedia entry (seems like a C's fan had a bit of fun):
David Joel Stern[1] (born September 22, 1942) is the the commissioner of the National Basketball Association. He started with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1966 as an outside counsel, joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 1978 as General Counsel, and became the Los Angeles Lakers' in 1980. He became Commissioner in 1984 succeeding Larry O'Brien. He is credited with increasing the popularity of the NBA in the 1990s and 2000s. Stern has served on the Los Angeles Lakers Board of Overseers and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Los Angeles Lakers'. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Lakers'.[2]

Damn. But tell us how you really feel.

  2. pff I kind of like that he nixed it because he didnt want players to dictate where they want to go. Still, I dont understand how he can do that

Mike: I feel like a player's destination should be up to the player, his agent and the interested teams, not the league. I honestly don't care if the players are basing their decisions on things like the weather, or where their buddies are playing. It's their decision, and if they want to ruin the league by bringing it to only a few relevant teams, then i'm not going to suffer, but they will. look it it this way, if these idiots cant see past one year in the future, they arent going to stay "rich" for very long, they are going to need the league in some capacity in the future. at which point we can all laugh at them, it'll be great.

and i think he can nix this trade cause he's a dictator in his own mind. I want to say he cancelled it because the hornets are league-owned, but i have a feeling he can cancel any trade he wants to between any teams, he just doesn't, thankfully.

David Stern really is a piece of shit, and more than that he is a crooked piece of shit. He's directly influenced the outcome of key games in the league for years, and his smug little comment about "don't plan on hearing from Van Gundy anytime soon" proves that he's a vindictive coward who won't stand for anybody questioning him in any way.

Since we're on the subject, why is this smug little rat still a commissioner anyways? Why does he get a lifetime appointment as a commissioner and nobody gets to question his leadership and nobody gets to suggest that maybe it's time for new leadership in the NBA?

I also heard that he has a direct influence over what is aired on ESPN as well, which would make sense since ESPN doesn't ever question the referees in any way shape or form.

Why did ghadafi, Hussein, and Marcos rule their countries for years and years and years? It's the same concept. They are all probably just waiting for him where they are now.

There's nothing better for a hangover than a little piss and vinegar hate piece. Oh, except the comments under this piss and vinegar hate piece.
I may have to get me some seconds.

Anon3: I do need to get laid haha, and this is what happens when you stop smoking weed. You are right, it's only sports, but plenty of people are much more passionate about sports than I. My problem is with the abuse of power.

Pinsla, going off the facts that: A) You thought the goal of this article was to force the Paul trade through, B) You don't know how to write in English, and C) you don't know the difference between "Respectful" and "Respectable," I doubt you'd even be able to comprehend the verbal ass-bruising I'd give you, so I'm not going to waste my time.

Jenda, you are still the man! You know my style haha, I'm all about the rants.
