That's a screen shot from FireGlenDocRivers.com which ESPNBoston.com posted this morning. In an article by Chris Forsberg, he points out that fans were shouting "Fi-re Doc!" back in November of 2006. Now we're all celebrating that Doc will be here another five years, and during that time he has a chance to surpass Red Auerbach for most wins by a coach in Celtics history. Funny how much things have changed since that 2006-07 season.

Every year is so different now. If it wasn't for Danny's awful trade and DWade breaking Rondo's arm we would be in the finals this year. Of course we would also have to play 5 on 8 with these refs though

This is what makes teams grow no matter what recently happened in the playoffs. I am very optimistic for next season and beyond. We expect the best and I think Doc coming back takes us to our goal.

  6. LuvP2 says:

Doc is not the problem, yes we lost the Miami series but look at all that he has done here. The Miami series went this way due in large part to injuries and bad calls. Things he has no control over. I'm glad he is staying, he bleeds green.

I believe I signed the petition back then...shame, shame and more shame on me lol. Back then we were just sucking and it's the coach who gets all the blame...I was obviously wrong. Sorry Doc!

But now I couldn't be happier to read that he will be here another 5 years, he has proven he is the best coach the C's can have!

Well, looks like sometimes passionate fans don't have the answers, at least in this case. Doc has been amazing and has the respect of players in Boston and elsewhere. Even LeBron gave him kudos! Love Doc, glad he's staying put.
