While most of the post-trade deadline talk has been focused on Kendrick Perkins, very little has been said about the status of Marquis Daniels, who suffered a bruised spinal cord when colliding with Gilbert Arenas during the February 6th game against the Orland Magic. Marquis has not played since, and was traded to the Sacramento Kings on February 24th.

Many feared that this would be a career-ending injury for Marquis, who has been injury prone throughout most of his career. The Boston Globe is reporting that Daniels will undergo surgery next week on his spinal cord, and Daniels' agent Mark Bartelstein is hopeful that it will allow for Marquis to be able to play in future seasons: "Our plan with the surgery is that the prognosis will be very good that he'll play again."

According to Bartlestein, Marquis had been experiencing episodes of numbness from contact, although it is unclear for exactly how long it has been an issue. In any case, Mark states that Marquis is "in good spirits now that the surgery's set."

My best wishes go out to Marquis for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. If you'd like to send Marquis Daniels a supportive message, you can find him on twitter @Marquis_Daniels.

    Hopefully all goes well.
I really liked Marquis this year - last year, not so much (cause he was out for like 80% of the year).

Praying for you man. Stay strong.

  3. The way i look at Marquis is that he's still a Celtic, just an injured Celtic. If Boston wins the championship he'll get his ring.

Interesting how it still hasn't been discussed why he waived his no-trade clause. Is he returning to the Celtics next year?

We miss you marquis! get well soon, and make sure to get a wacky tattoo about this whole thing!

  6. Damn hope this solves allot of the issues he's had with durability and makes his like easier overall. It must have been a bitch trying to play when you are unsure on weather you will feel your whole body %100 of the time.

  7. Best wishes to Marquis.
