Celtics Lose to New Jersey, 3rd in Four Games

Behind 16 points and 15 rebounds from Kris Humphries, the New Jersey Nets defeated the Boston Celtics 88-79.

Humphries got some help from help from Brook Lopez, who poured in 20 on 9-16 shooting. Deron Williams and Anthony Marrow chipped in with 16 and 15 respectively in the victory.

For Boston, Ray Allen led the way with 19. Kevin Garnett dropped 18 on 9-14 shooting and grabbed eight boards. Glen "Big Baby" Davis made his return tonight and finished with an impressive 16 points and 14 rebounds. Captain Paul Pierce had his worst night in recent memory, connecting on only 2-10 attempts.

Though the C's outscored New Jersey 23-14 in the opening frame, they got outscored 38-53 in the next two quarters. Despite trailing by by 12 with 9:31 to go, crawled back to within two when Pierce drained a pair of free throws.

Unfortunately, Boston managed two points in the last 4:27 and eventually fell by nine. With the loss, Boston drops to 47-18, while the Nets improve to 22-43. The Celts return to action Wednesday when the Pacers visit Beantown. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
