"We may be looking at the trade deadline to make a move,'' Ainge said. "And not just for the short term. We'll see how Marquis does. I like our team. But the Marquis situation could give us something to think about at the perimeter. We'll just have to see where he is.
Even the biggest Quisy fans had to believe that him getting sidelined by an injury this season was a possibility. It's the reason I wanted the Celtics to keep Tony Allen over Nate Robinson. My guess is so did Danny, but Allen surprised the C's and went to Memphis. Danny tried to bring in three possible small forwards to camp in Luke, Gaffney, and Lasme, but only Luke showed the ability to play the small forward position at an acceptable NBA level. But do we really want Luke D-ing up small forwards in the playoffs?

In terms of trade chips the Celtics have some minimal assets in Bradley, Luke, and their upcoming 1st rounder. Then if you wanted to think bigger, I'm sure Erden and Davis would be attractive to other teams. Nate Robinson has negative trade value due to his contract and play. Same with Jermaine O'Neal. If you have some trade ideas feel free to suggest them in the comments. We'll forward them to Danny. ;)

  1. Chris says:

    Nate to Mikael Pietrus
Nate and Bradley for Josh Childress
Bradley and 2nd for Courtney Lee

  2. The Coach says:

Nice job, you beat me to this.

I think we have to add someone. I don't see Daniels being back before Mid March and even that might be a stretch. If there is a way to get Posey back from Indiana I would look into that as well as Battier from the Rockets. At this point we are chasing the championship so whatever $ that needs to be spent, well, needs to be spent!

  3. .chuckT. says:

A few trades that might work:

    -Wafer & Nate to 76ers - Iguodala to C's
-Wafer to Grizz - TA to C's
-Wafer & someone to Rockets - Battier to C's
-Wafer & JO to Pacers - POSEY & Hibbert to C's
-Pierce to LAL - Kobe to C's (JUST KIDDING!!!) lol
(WE NEED POSEY &/OR TA BACK IN BOSTON!)

    Other things we could do:

    -Take Sheed out of retirement.lol
    -Get Rip from Detroit
-Melo seems to want a trade..OFFER HIM SOMETHING!

  4. .chuckT. says:

ANYTHING to get Posey..he was GREAT for us in 08. And he has been good for the Hornets and Pacers since he left Boston. BRING JAMES POSEY BACK!!!!!!!

  5. Jenda says:

If the Celtics obtain Childress for Nate and Bradley I'm going to call the paramedics with straight jacket for Danny.

  6. Nate Robinson & Marquis Daniels for Shane Battier

Avery Bradley + picks for Rudy Fernandez

Jermaine O'Neal & Nate for Tayshaun Prince

    all unlikely though

  7. those three actually work money wise

  8. RoswellSounds says:

Damn... If we could get Tayshaun here, it would be awesome! But the pistons wouldn´t agree on that. The don´t need Nate cause they have Bynum & Stuckey. Baby & Wafer-Erden? Maybe, but if we lose Davis now, who the hell´s gonna play PF in the playoffs? We need Glenn´s experience and energy for these playoffs, and he´s friend of everyone in the team. Wafer or Nate for TA? I see that happening. Nate is useless to the Pacers, they Have Collison and TJ Ford... But I would like to see Tyler Hansbrough playing with the C´s sometime...

  9. RoswellSounds says:

And could we please GET SHEED BACK!?!? Like.. RIGHT NOW?!?! Come on Sheed!!! The guys are waiting for you...

  10. Chris W says:

chuckt: you're an idiot if you think any of those trade would happen. And some of these other trades are ridiculous. They'll be fine. Don't need to make a move. And doubt they can. Only thing that may happen is Sheed coming out of retirement. But they still have the best record in the East and that was with them missing Rondo for a bunch of game and Garnett for a bunch of games. Don't make a move.

luke haragody for dirk nowitzki. ainge, get it done. Maybe if they just swap uniforms, no one will notice...

Try to bring back Tony Allen by using Avery Bradley or harangody. Those are the only 2 people that we can afford to part with. Von wafer has so much talent he just hasn't had the time to show it. Even Avery Bradley does. I really don't want anyone to be traded. But Tony Allen would be great for when we play good teams such as the Miami Hype.

Please remember TA left us in the cold. We can't lose Glen or Semih, they have proven too valuable in my opinion. (Especially considering what a waste JO was.)

  15. shelbyl says:

Trading Semih is not a good idea given the state JO is. If Semih is gone, then we'll squeeze every bit of juice out of Davis and Shaq (especially Shaq) before playoffs, and that's not a good thing.

Harangody is a good player, but he's not athletic enough to D good SFs. That's sth that's not gonna improve, so I think he's the first expandable player as there are teams hat would use him in his current role. I don't know any feasible trade option that involves him though.

JO and Nate are also tradeable, yet I don't know any teams that would accept them. Maybe we can trick Kahn or Wallace into thinking they are doing a good trade? that has been proven easy.
