Celtics blow out Cavs in Perk's return

The Celtics dominated this game pretty much throughout in a blow out win 112-95. Pierce had 24 first half points and was pretty much unguardable.  Luke Harangody had some solid minutes off the bench with 8 points and 4 rebounds. Nate, Big Baby, Von Wafer, and Erden all made contributions as well. Nate took 8 three pointers, making three. He must have the league lead for most three point baskets attempted per minute. Garnett, Ray, and Pierce sat for much of the second half which will help them be well rested for the West Coast trip.

However,  the big story of this game was the return of Kendrick Perkins. He came in around the midpoint of the first quarter and was given a rousing 5 minute standing ovation. If there is anyone who deserves that kind of welcoming it is Perk. What a great scene at the Garden. I thought he played very well in his first game back with 7 points and 6 boards. He looks a lot slimmer than before and looked active on the glass. Great to see Perk back.

The Cavs are just a terrible basketball team. This is what happens when you have 12 role players on your team. Some people might say this is why Lebron left but the reality is all they needed was one more superstar along with Lebron and they probably could've won a title. You can't win in this league without a superstar unless you have 5 borderline All Stars like the Pistons back in 2004. But I digress. No one really impressed me from that team except Christian Eyenga who can jump out of the building.  The Cavs have now lost 18 straight games which is is quite simply horrific.

Good to see Boston take care of business tonight. They were sloppy at times but that is what happens when you play a team as terrible as the Cavs. Tough stretch coming up on the West Coast swing.  Good to see Perk back in uniform.  Next game is Thursday night in Portland at 10:30pm.
