Pierce hits milestone as Celtics beat Bucks in OT

The Celtics squeaked out a 105-102 victory in overtime against a pesky Bucks team behind clutch free throws from Paul Pierce.  Pierce scored 28 points and surpassed the 20,000th point mark as a Celtic.  Congratulations to Paul and I truly hope he will remain in Boston for the rest of his career. Overall this wasn't the prettiest game for the Celtics, but was a huge win all the same. Despite the Bucks 1-4 record  they are clearly a playoff team and could be a tough out in the first round.

The starters played pretty well for Boston. Garnett struggled from the floor for most of the game but had a big 4th quarter including a monstrous dunk over Andrew Bogut. Allen had a pretty good shooting game from the floor, but missed a couple open jumpers at the end that would've sealed it. By the way, I can't remember a game where more shots went in and out.  Rondo had 17 points, 15 assists, and played excellent defense on Jennings. This usually would be a great game but it's Rondo so is just another day at the office. The bench wasn't so great. Besides another big game from Big Baby no one else really made an impact which is concerning as a Celtics fan.  We can't have all the starters playing 35+minutes all season..

Davis took two more charges which makes that 9 for the year. That has to be some kind of record right? He is one of my favorite players in the league. I actually thought Jermaine O'Neal played pretty well, especially defensively. The guy shouldn't be starting in the NBA at this point in his career but he's going to be a solid rotation player for us until Perk comes back, especially on the defensive end.

The Bucks don't have any real superstars besides maybe Bogut, but they have a ton of solid rotation players. Ilyasova is very impressive and always seems to play well against the Celtics. Delfino had a solid game as well, though his two turnovers at the end of Overtime gave the game to the Celtics. Bogut continued to be a Celtic killer with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He still is a certified beast in my book.

This was a game rittled with turnovers and poor shooting but really picked up starting in the 4th quarter. The Celtics only played well for that minute and a half stretch after the Garnett-Bogut scuffle but that was enough to change the game.  I think the Bucks have a bright future this year and that the Celtics need games like this to avoid having a regular season like last year. Let's continue this win streak Friday against Scal and the Bulls.
