Celts to Invite Even MORE Guys to Camp

With the influx of players the Celtics have been bringing in for workouts, Celticslife has learned of the next wave of guys who will be getting tryouts.  This list consists of entirely swingmen, including Hersey Hawkins, Ron Anderson, Mitchell Butler, Tracy Murray, Kendall Gill, Willie Anderson, his brother Shandon Anderson, David Benoit, Dennis Hopson, Donald Royal, Ken Norman, Wesley Person, and Duane Ferrell.

Two-time NBA Coach of the Year Doc Rivers said "Ron Anderson's looked great in the over 50 league.  He has a great stroke.  Same with Hersey.  We think they can bring some immediate help and experience."

Said Danny Ainge, "Well Tracy Murray was always a tough guy to guard against- he had that really quick release.  We've known for awhile Kendall was looking at making a comeback, so we're happy to have him trying out here in Boston.  David Benoit is a bit of a long shot but we like his off-the-ball defense and he's picking up the defensive rotations quicker than most.  I like Dennis Hopson's enthusiasm too.  He was a bit of an underachiever earlier in his career but he's looked to have turned the corner."

Ainge continued, "Donald Royal brings veteran leadership and both Willie Anderson and his brother Shandon have great playoff experience and athleticism.  I wouldn't discount Wesley Person either; he might be the best shooter in the group."

But don't forget the others either.  "Ken can play the power 3 spot- he played a little 4 back in the day.  That's why his nickname was the Snake" said Doc.  The other guys, they're tough guys- Duane, Mitchell, I'm surprised they're not on NBA rosters.  Someone will scoop these guys up before too long.  We just want to make sure we have the right pieces in place."

Calls placed to Vernon Maxwell, John Starks, and Anthony Bonner were not returned.
