Source told FOXSports.com that Celtics boss Danny Ainge was the first to call David Lee upon start of free agency. What do you have up your sleeve Mr. Ainge? I like Lee. He wouldn't put up the same numbers outside of New York, but I believe he'd improve defensively. Bosh would be the ideal running mate for Rondo, but he has no interest in Boston. Amar'e would fit well too, but that option expired at the trade deadline (Suns wanted Ray's expiring contract). Lee might be the best we can do. It will be complicated to pull off though. Nice to see Danny thinking big.
According to the Boston Globe the Celtics are also hard after the corpse of Brad Miller. Luckily there have been no such Celtics links to the decaying corpse of Shaquille O'Neal.

he plays no defense....
Lee would be cool especially if Scal takes coaching job. lol
Lies...
He played defense. No one else did. He got absolutely zero help.
How many times will the word "corpse" be used this summer? More or less times than Bilas mentioned "wingspan" in the first round lol?
Lee's not a corpse- he's a solid player, but not really sure how that deal works.
David Lee would be a great addition!
We can only offer him a mid-level contract, right? If he already has several teams interested in him, how're we gonna pull this off?
Lee would be a useful addition at thr right price. Definitely not in the "corpse" category with Shaq and Miller.
His offensive numbers are slightly inflated playing with the bad Knick team in the D'Antoni system. Benefits from being the best garbage man at times but does have skills.
The defense rip is NOT a lie. Unaggressive standing and watching on D can't be blamed on teammates.
he's good but still overrated player and i think he'll be overpayed just like rudy gay.
Please don't acquire eric dampier!
This is getting crazy!! Apparently we are interested in:
JJ Redick
Mike Miller
Anthony Morrow
Josh Childress
Brad Miller
David Lee
Brendan Haywood
And probably more that I have already forgotten... CRAZY!! :P
see? I forgot:
Eric Dampier
Antoine Wright
Rasual Butler
I am intrigued by the Haywood and Lee scenarios. In the first case we would need to use Sheed's contract and in the second we would need to do a S&T...I wonder who would go there. If Ray would be the one, then that would contradict Doc's will to sign Ray as the priority for this team...
Just one day and so many questions...
Sign Shaq and David Lee......Lee plays big but C's will need a big body (Shaq) to throw out there to grab some boards, take some fouls, guard a big man for a few mins
We all know the Knicks suck without a doubt, however if you have followed Lee and his numbers he is the only player on that team who goes uninjured, plays tons of minutes, is a beast on the boards, and has a mid range shot on top of offensive rebound putbacks. He is a double double machine, if he becomes a Celtic that may change depending on how they use him and who we have on the active roster. I would certainly hope he would be a starter though. He is VERY under rated.
What if Sheed changes his mind after Doc's return?:
"Ainge still hasn’t received any paperwork from the league regarding Wallace’s retirement, nor has agent Bill Strickland reportedly filed any. Strickland declined comment yesterday, but his client will remain a Celtic until these formal matters are dealt with.
It’s unclear what the veteran center thinks of Doc Rivers’ decision to come back for the last year of his contract, or how it may affect his own decision."

Are the Celtics really interested in Josh Childress? That guy sucks even in european leagues. He played in Greece this season. No jump shot - much worse than Rondo (and I mean MUCH worse), average in defense, average in hustle and I'm talking european measures!
lee will be a nice addition especially in the rebounding department....and please NO SHAQ IN BOSTON.no disrespect but he is old.
I say go hard on LEE and some perimeter guys in the league that rondo needs as his sidekick now that the big 3 are in their late 30's.
garnett pierce rayray be back in green!!!!!
i would love to see Lee in Green. Can't really see how it happens though. Also, he's more of a SF than a C.
oops PF
Btw who is this Jeff Goodman guy who broke this rumor? Never heard his name mentioned amongst the Ken Bergers, Marc Steins, Chad Fords.
Is he related to John Goodman?
If we sign Lee then this team gets a significant upgrade in the paint. Without Sheed and Perk, only Baby really pounds the ball inside. KG's game is more open, sometimes playing inside, sometimes shooting from mid range. Lee is so skilled on the glass, his repertoire is amazing. Plus he is tough and would improve his defense in Boston.
The only problem is $$$$. Miami, Chicago and New Jersey are also interested and they can offer more money and also interesting teammates and projects for Lee. Maybe KG and Rondo could visit Lee??
