Maybe the crowd 's "MVP" chants at the end of Game 4 got under his skin. Now writes ESPN's Peter May, the real MVP, Lebron James, wants to guard Rondo. After the stunning performance the young point guard turned in yesterday, Cleveland needs to do something. Anthony Parker is obviously not getting it done. Rondo is averaging 21.8 points, 13 assists and 8.3 rebounds this series. Could James be the answer? Cleveland hopes so. After the game Lebron said about switching to Rondo:
"I would love to...It's something we maybe should explore because Rondo is definitely dominating this series at the point guard position. For me, I don't have a problem taking Rondo or guarding Rondo throughout the course of the game. If the coaching staff or the guys want me to do it, I will."
Lebron definitely wants to. He's rallied Mike Brown to give him his shot but the coach hasn't given in. With the way Rondo is playing, he may have to.

This wouldn't be the first time Lebron's moved to defend a dominating point guard. It happened as recently as the first round. In which, James took on Chicago's Derrick Rose who was turning in 30+ point performances night after night. Cleveland went on to win that series, 4-1. The two time NBA All-Defensive team selection presents a greater challenge for Rondo. Lebron stands a full 7 inches taller and is 70 lbs heavier.

If Lebron switches, this obviously leaves Parker on Pierce. This is likely why Mike Brown is hesitant to make the move. Could Pierce step up his game without being guarded by the best player in the NBA? Hopefully. If Lebron can stop Rondo, Boston's going to need "The Truth".

Good topic Mike. When asked about the comparison between Rondo and Rose after the game, James mentioned how the Bulls would have Hinrich and James Johnson in the game when he'd defend Rose, so they didn't have to worry about postups. Different story with the Celtics...

I could see LBJ on Rondo, Mo on Ray and Parker on Pierce. The key will be if Pierce can get going and take advantage of the Parker matchup.

Pierce def will be the key when James takes Rondo and I expect he will get good looks and find his shot.

I think Rondo's penetrating style will be be tougher for James to stop than Rose's. Rose is very quick but more physical.
