Boston Globe
Here is the statement from the league:

NEW YORK, April 18, 2010 – Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics has been
suspended without pay for one game for striking the Miami Heat’s Quentin
Richardson in the head with an elbow, it was announced today by Stu
Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. Richardson
has been fined $25,000 for his role in the altercation.
Lame lame lame. Richardson instigated this mess and he gets off with a fine only. A Heat player grabbed KG from behind. A natural reaction is to fight to break free. If Q's big mouth wasn't in the area it wouldn't have gotten elbowized. The NBA is so soft.

i cant WAIT for game 3. oh how we're going to KILL them

  5. ThomasJ says:

Stu and the league office with another great decision. Q has always been a punk bitch and
    instigated the whole incident.

Will make a Boston win impressive and useful with Sheed and Baby getting more important minutes.

  8. tb727 says:

It didn't even look like the elbow hit him.

And Magloire should've been suspended, he came off the bench.

  9. Anonymous says:

half the miami bench is seen in this picture with hands ALL over KG and big baby. every player that stood up should have been hit with a fine.

  10. JR says:

At first I read it as "half Miami BEACH is seen in this picture with hands ALL over KG"

Garnett got what he deserved. Hell, he should of been suspended for the entire series. If Garnett wants to throw elbows, then he should go into the UFC. There is no place in the NBA for that kind of behavior. But then again, Garnett has always been known for being a dirty player. Anyways, Boston sucks and the Lakers will repeat as champs. Go L.A.!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. JR says:

Anonymous, you do know that your most famous Los Angeles Raper... I mean Laker Mr. Bryant threw an elbow last year in the playoffs at Ron Artest and didn't receive any suspension right? I'm assuming you know that and aren't like most ignorant dumbass Lakers fans. Thanks for stopping by.

  13. tb727 says:

The Flakers will not repeat. The winner of the East will win it all.

  14. Anonymous says:

LOL, all you Boston fans are just jealous of the Lakers and L.A.I ain't mad at you Bostonians for hating on the Lakers and the city of Angels. See you guys in the finals. Oh wait, you guys are not even going to make it. Have fun losing to Cleveland you losers!!!

  15. Anonymous says:

hahaha wow you flaker fans are pretty gay considering this isn't even a series that concerns you. shove it. ANYWAYS TO PEOPLE WHO MATTER AKA BOSTON FANS...as much as it irks me to agree with it Donny Marshall said it best "Quentin you can go to school, but you can't buy class" I hope Q Rich breaks a bone in Game 2, or the Celtics should do it for him.

  16. JR says:

I wonder why Los Angeles counts the Lakers titles in Minneapolis as their own? Oh yeah, b/c its the only way you guys can even see the Celtics who are that far ahead. Nice 38 point loss to us the last time you faced us in the Finals.

You Boston freaks just can't handle the truth that L.A. has the best NBA team. You Celtic fans are just a bunch of DOUCHE BAGS and the Lakers are always going to be the best NBA franchise in history!!!

  18. tb727 says:

"You Boston freaks just can't handle the truth that L.A. has the best NBA team"

What are you basing that on? That the Flakers have 2 less championships than the Celtics? Or that 5 of the Flakers titles didn't even happen in LA?

Seriously I never goto Flaker blogs, so why don't you just go away.

  19. Bohemian says:

So the league rewards the instigator and punishes the player that defends integrity, alright. This decision is a shame to the league, it should be the other way round: KG gets the fine and Q gets suspended. How about the rest of the Heat players? Shameful!

Let's destroy them in game 2!

  20. ThomasJ says:

JR and TB adding to your point about the Flaker method of counting championships - Oklahoma City is currently playing for their 2nd banner.

  21. Anonymous says:

LOL at all the Celtics kool-aid drinking. KG is a bitch

  22. Karl says:

Great comment thread! Garnett's suspension could be a good thing for this team. Maybe this will motivate them.

  23. Marylou says:

Richardson had no business going over there in the first place. Totally inappropriate. He wanted to stir trouble. And he is only fined? Outrageous!

  24. Anonymous says:

"Q" ought to shut his effing mouth before someone shuts it for him. THAT I'd pay to see. What a creep.

  25. Anonymous says:

Why are there laker fans posting on this blog? There is no reason for them to be here, this is not any of their business. I agree with Karl. This will probably motivate the Celtics more. Plus, in game 3, KG will be back and he's gonna get going too. By doing this, this probably handed the series to the Celtics because they are gonna be more motivated now than ever. Plus if I were them, I would be mad at Q and I would want to win more than ever. This sucks at the moment, but in the long run this could be very helpful for the C's. They'll finally be motivated.

  26. Anonymous says:

Regardless of which side you're on, Boston or Miami, if you looed at the incident, you would hae seen "The Big Ticket" swinging his elbows like there's no tomorrow. Such incidents can cause real injuries(Chris Bosh, anyone?). Being a Bucks fan, I lived through the horror of watching Bogut being injured by Amare; however, after cooler heads prevailed, it was reported that Andrew himself lost his balance on his own. My point is, it takes a man to admit when he is wrong, regardless of the outcome, and name calling doesn't help.

  27. JR says:

Karl, I have a hunch that if the C's win game 2 everyone will say the KG suspension ended up being a good thing, but if they lose game 2... not so much. lol.

Yeah no idea why Lakers fans go to a Celtics site. Maybe its jealousy. ;)

  28. Anonymous says:

I can't keep these anonymous's straight?? It is getting confusing.

  29. JR says:

Agreed Anonymous. Not sure why its so hard to click on name and type one's name.

  30. tb727 says:

Almost 30 comments! Haven't had this many since the Dick Stockton article lol!

  31. JR says:

TB, you should give a link to the Stockton article. Ican't check it out b/c the picture gives me nightmares, but others might want to.

  32. Anonymous says:

i was at the game Qrich started it garnett went to help up his teammate like ur suppose to do and i cant wait for game 2 so we can beat them witout garnett since they think they have a chance now lol

  33. Anonymous says:

Wow, some people still want to think Kobe's still a rapist...even though nothing was or ever will be proven. The accuser should be lucky she got an out-of-court settlement

It'll be another 20 years until the Celtics win another title.

  34. JR says:

"No means no" Laker fan. Yet you insist on posting on a Celtics site after you're told you're not welcome. Hmm? Very Kobe-like. Hahaha.

  35. tb727 says:

Yeah get real Lakers fans, you're not wanted here at all. I was discussing how I've never once visited a Lakers blog because I know I'm not welcome.

    Go away.
