The Amazing Rajon

Rajon Rondo is the best player on the Celtics, and it really isn't even close. The Big 3 are on the downside of their careers, and with the exception of maybe Pierce, can't dominate games night in and night out. Rondo is the most important player on this team and brings it every night. He's also in my opinion the most fun player to watch in the NBA.

The whole “should he be an All Star" debate is a joke. The real question is, should he be an MVP candidate? Besides maybe Chris Paul and Nasty Nash, he is the best point guard in the league, and probably better than both of them defensively. Sure the Celtics have really good players around him, but they've been hurt half the season. Also, has anyone considered that maybe the Big 3 are good because of Rajon, not just the other way around. It takes a certain point guard to make this work, and Rajon is perfect.

The way he commands the court is unparalleled in the league. His ball handling is exceptional and his ability to take the ball to the basket and finish is right up there with the elite finishers in the NBA. Let's not forget that this guy is 23 years old! Yes, for all the people that debated his contract, if there are any left, remember he is 23 years old and only going to get better. We got this guy for cheap as far as I'm concerned. With him at the helm, at least we will be competitive after the Big 3 retires.

Does he have flaws? Of course he does. His jump shot is still average at best, and he's still under 60% from the free throw line. The important thing is that he is improving and that is all you can ask for in a player. Also his attitude has been questioned, but think about this. What if you knew you were the best player on a team and all anyone talked about was how good your teammates were. Big 3 this, Big 3 that. I love Garnett, Pierce, and Ray as much as anyone, but Rondo is better than all of them. Perk and Rondo deserve to be a little pissed off that they are so overlooked.

All of us that bleed Celtics Green know how good Rondo is. I just hope someday soon the country recognizes the unique talent that is Rajon Rondo. Go Celtics!
