What the Hell Happened to...Erick Strickland?

He was a defensive-minded backup guard who was the master of taking charges.  In 2002 the Celtics were 4-0 with him as the starting point guard when Kenny Anderson got injured.  You may remember Erick Strickland.

I actually liked him a lot on the Celtics.  A former Nebraska Cornhusker (where he also played football) Strickland played his first four years in the league for the Mavericks, who were hapless at the time.  Quick stops in NY and Vancouver lead him to the Celtics for the 2002 season where he played 79 games.  For most of the season he was the first guard off the bench but after they acquired Tony Delk, his playing time became a little less consistent.  Nevertheless he was a key contributor on that Cinderella Celtics team that came within 2 games of making the NBA Finals.

I remember being upset when Boston didn't resign him that offseason; he left to play for the Pacers.  2 years after that in Milwaukee and Strickland's NBA career had come to an end.

After his career Strickland started Luxury Boy Toys (http://www.luxuryboytoys.com was the old site, which doesn't work anymore).  Before you think it's some type of high-end brothel, it's a service that allows rich people to trade their big rich things for other big rich things with other rich people.  This was an explanation from their old website:

At last! An internet destination suited to your lifestyle and ready to meet your demands. You didn't get to where you are by accident. Neither did we.
This isn't the typical online auction house. In fact, there is nothing typical about what we do. We don't cater to the crowd. We spoil the sophisticated. We pamper the privileged. We cannot be all things to all people, nor do we try. We just want to be the first place you look when it is time to buy, sell, or trade that luxury item.
We didn't invent the wheel; We just made ours alloy... and attached it to a very fast vehicle.

Sounds really neat.  Not certain if he's still involved on that project.

He is currently a Sales Professional at Goodson Acura in Dallas.  I really like Acura cars.  It'd be amazing buying a car from him.  It'd be like buying a house from Acie Earl.  Or office furniture from Hank Finkel.  Incredible stuff!

Lastly you can email him on Linked In (http://www.linkedin.com/in/erickstrickland).
