KG is Officially Back

For the last two weeks few players in the NBA have been hotter than Kevin Garnett. Just a few weeks ago there was much trepidation about whether Garnett was too old, and whether he could still be the impact player he was before his injury. I think he has answered most of his doubters by now.

Over the last five games he has shot over 75%. These aren't just lay-ups or dunks either. Garnett has been hitting from everywhere. It has gotten to the point where every time he shoots his patented 18 footer you know it is going in, and are shocked if it doesn't. Though he is no longer the leaper he was in his younger days, he has finished much better around the basket lately as well.

Look, we all know KG is not the player he used to be, but no one is when they get older. Jordan wasn't the player he used to be during his second stint with the Bulls, but he was still extremely affective because he changed his game. This is what KG has done. He knows he can't jump over people anymore for dunks, so he has adjusted his game and perfected his perimeter shot. He is still an active defender and probably still the most intimidating player in the league as well.
The fact is Boston doesn't need KG to be an MVP candidate. The great thing about this Celtics team is everyone has a role and most play it to perfection. On any given night any one of the starting 5 could be the leading scorer and no one else would care. This is why I still think the Celtics should be the favorite to win the title.

It's hard to explain to people that don't see KG play all the time how much of a joy it is to watch him play basketball. No one brings the heart, hustle, and intensity he does night in and night out. His leadership is contagious. Without him in last years playoffs we all knew the Celtics couldn't get back to the promised land.  I feel like when he is on the court and playing at a high level no one can stop the Celtics. Every Celtics fan should count their blessings that they get a chance to watch this guy perform, because you will miss him when he's gone.
