Can the Celtics win 72 games or more this season and topple the Bulls record from 1996?  Rasheed Wallace thinks it's a possibility:

"I think we can get that Bulls record," Wallace told Connecticut News on Friday, referring to the 72-10 mark that Chicago posted during the 1995-96 season.

I actually think he may be on to something.  I really do feel there's a legit shot that could happen.  However I'd settle for top record in the league to guarantee home court and then obviously capturing Banner 18.

What do you think?

  1. JR says:

If KG has the legs/knee he had in the championship season, possibly. I think its somewhat of a stretch though. Little known fact: The Bulls lost two of their final games that season as they rested their stars the final few games and activated Jack Haley (and played him significant minutes). Haley hadn't been active all season. He was essentially considered a babysitter for Rodman in Chicago. Anyway, the Bulls if they really wanted to should of finished 74-8.

    I don't think they will. But I'm sure they'll be up there (near 70). I'll say 67-15.

I do recall that towards the end of the season. I saw that Bulls team play a lot that year.

  4. No way they win that many games nor should they try. They should cut down the minutes of their veterans if they have a lead at the end of the season to save them for the stretch run. Championships are more important than regular season records. Just ask the 2007 Patriots.

  5. The Coach says:

Agree...as much fun as chasing that record could be it is all about the ring, it has to be just about getting #18!!!

  6. Mike-Dub says:

You just had to bring up the 2007 Patriots Karl... I definitely think this team can get that 72 win mark and definitely want them to but not at the cost of a championship.

  7. Three Toe says:

yea there's no way. Sorry Rasheed.
