Per the Globe's site it looks like that obviously Ray wants an extension. I'm sure he knows that he won't make anywhere near 19.7 million per year in the future, but I'm curious how much would get it done right now. I think it behooves the C's to wait this one out and it looks like Ray won't be an unhappy camper. Ray has always been a great professional.

Ray Allen said Friday night that he would like to negotiate a contract extension with the Celtics beyond this season. Allen, who turned 34 in July, is entering the final year of a five-year, $85 million deal he signed with the team formally known as the Seattle SuperSonics. Allen will earn $19.7 million this season.
“Of course, but it will be dealt with in its time,” said Allen, when asked whether he would like to play more years in Boston. “My job doesn’t change. I gotta go out and do the same things. We get paid to play basketball. We’re all in a great situation so we can’t look past this year.”

I recall seeing something about his daughter coming to live in Boston to attend school there. Sounds like he's confident he'll be there beyond this year.

I do think he'll take a deal similar to Rasheed's. That will give the Celts flexibility with the cap and he can retire a Celtic. If he plays 6 seasons in Boston, his number 20 may get retired too...
